Laura Watts is a Writer, Poet, Ethnographer, and Associate Professor at the IT University of Copenhagen. Her work explores how the future is imagined and made in tech industries, and how different landscapes and forms of storytelling can make those futures differently.
Laura has spent the last eight years collaborating with people and places around marine renewable energy in Orkney. She is the author of The Energy Walk, a landscape installation in northwest Denmark, developed as part of the research project, Alien Energy. She has been a member of Stromness Writers Group since 2008, and has recently published a book with poet Alec Finlay and artist Alistair Peebles called Ebban an’ Flowan, described by the authors as ‘the world’s first poetic primer on marine renewable energy’. Her work has incorporated storytelling, history and folklore.
